Volunteers must complete the volunteer registration form available on this page. Volunteer coordination is managed in partnership with the host branch and national staff. Submitting the form allows the volunteer coordination team to review your availability and schedule assignments accordingly.

Volunteer shifts typically range from 3–4 hours, depending on the role and event needs. Volunteers may select their availability during registration, and assignments will be scheduled based on those selections. While volunteers are welcome to serve multiple shifts, a minimum commitment of one full shift is requested.

No. Volunteer positions are unpaid and are offered as an opportunity to support the work and mission of the NAACP.

No. Volunteers are responsible for their own travel, accommodations, and transportation to and from the event venue.

No. Volunteering does not provide complimentary access to convention programming. Volunteers will receive a volunteer credential and a volunteer t-shirt. To fully participate in the convention (special events, luncheons and sessions), you must complete the attendee registration. Meal vouchers may be provided based on the length of volunteer service. Volunteers typically receive a meal voucher for every four hours of volunteer work per day.

Volunteers may indicate their availability and role preferences during registration. Final assignments are determined by the volunteer coordination team based on event needs, availability, and accessibility considerations.

We encourage volunteers to take advantage of Chicago's public transit system, which offers convenient access to the convention venue. If you choose to drive, the NAACP will cover your parking costs. Additional details on parking locations and reimbursement instructions will be shared with confirmed volunteers prior to the event.

Yes! All confirmed volunteers will have two training opportunities prior to the event. An on-site orientation will take place during the first week of June, followed by a virtual training session closer to the convention start date. Additional details will be shared with confirmed volunteers once assignments are finalized.
